I really like it up there and can not wait to go back.

Tourist season is generally June - September up there. The streets are completely packed with tourists, and the prices are the highest.
"Shoulder" season where the tourists start to really diminish begins in October, and you'll find cheaper rates for lodging but still plenty to do.
Slowest months up there are February - March, you'll probably find the cheapest lodging during that time.
My friend runs a coffee shop up there, and I know not to call her or to visit between June and September because she's slammed with tourists! Hope this helps.

I dont know what they call the off season I would guess when everything is covered in snow. I went in july one yr and rode horses in estes park on the mountains.

May and November, but not much off. It is always nice there.
