Every once in a while my boyfriend wakes up from a deep sleep absolutely terrified. Last night at like 3:00 am out of no where he Jumped straight out of bed onto the floor and started screaming as if he was terrified for his life! I have never seen anyone act so scared. It went on for like 30 seconds, then I told him it's okay, calm down. He got back in bed and immediately fell back to sleep. I asked him about it this morning, and he doesn't remember it at all. Why would this happen?

Night Terrors. It is a psychological disorder that does not affect many people. It is like the level above Night Mares. The dream seems so real and when you wake up it seem to linger for a few more seconds. Imagine if the bogey man was still there when your eyes opened. Terrifying. Most people grow out of them. Mine seem to have calmed down considerably. If they become often and disrupt his daily life due to lack of sleep he is going to need some counseling. Otherwise it is just part of life. I am sure he had done this all his life. Ask his parents about it. A word of caution... when he wakes up with the night terrors he is going to be out of control for 30 seconds to 1 minutes. Be careful not to get to close to him or he may accidentally hurt you. He might think you are the bad guy in his dream. My husband has the bumps and bruises to prove this happens and he is a lot bigger then me. Assuming you are smaller than your boyfriend, be careful not to get hurt.

I have heard of this before. It's called night terrors and it usually happens in children. It's scary for the parents and family members but the people aren't harmed because they don't remember anything. You should look this up on line and see if anymore information has been discovered on this topic.

He is simply having a nightmare tho it sounds as if he is ok, If he`s had a bad experience in the past he needs to talk about it and get out of his system tho it is a nightmare and so I think it is nothing to worry about. Ps my ex punched me in the face once because she thought she was being attacked in a dream and she didn`t remember either
