You shouldn't be buying anything for your partner on mothers/fathers day, unless it's because your children are too young to purchase said items.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

This is a really beautiful poem too!

The things you taught me I will always know.
How could I not? The roots have sunk so deep:
All lessons of the heart that I will keep
No matter who I am or where I go.
Kids learn from what their parents are, and so
You are my book of life, the thoughts I reap;
From you I learned the rules of right and wrong
Against which I at times had to rebel,
Though with regret I carry with me still.
How lucky I am to have been loved so well,
Even as I pushed against your will,
Relying on a father fair and strong.

I agree, it's Father's Day! When it's his birthday buy him something nice. If the kids are old enough, get them to do something for him, maybe clean the car for him, take him to the park to play football/have a family picnic, just spend some quality time together.

Does he like chocolate? Men don't often get spoiled with chocolate like women do. Why not order some really nice gourmet chocolate for him. There are some great selections at http://www.chocolate-candy-mall.com/gourmet-chocolate-candy.html

If he is not into "fancy" chocolate, there are all kinds of everyday chocolates to choose from. You could even make your own candy or fudge. Sometimes homemade means more to the person.

Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with getting your husband a father's day gift. I like to take every opportunity that comes up to show the people close to me how much I love and appreciate them. We won't have them forever...

My hubby's kids (my step-kids) are adult and live out of town. There will be phone calls and hopefully cards. But I want to honor him for being a great father.

I bought veal and lobster tails, and I'm making him a nice dinner and serving it on our (seldom used) china. Because really, we don't need more "stuff".

its fathers day not husbands day, thats the first point. secondly if it is on behalf of the kids do something that doesnt involve buying gifts and pushing the idea of consumerism.
breakfast in bed and go out for the day. even a walk in th park with a picnic.
after all its another day for hallmark cards and other shops to make money.. nothing else

Erm- without sounding facetious, why are you buying your husband a present on Father's Day?

Depends what he likes! if he likes nothing more than going out "Dogging" with the lads then you could get him some new wellies. Or maybe a dart board.

Go and get a photo of your kids done professionally. Frame it yourselves, and get them to take part in the choosing of the frame etc. He will absolutely love it.
