Cool is over-rated. Seriously. ^_^
But if you really *insist* on doing the whole popularity thing...*lol*...
--never use capital letters or punctuation,
--never type more than three lines for your Answers, and ideally they should *all* be one-liners,
--hang out in Polls & Surveys and other places on Yahoo Answers were folks just *aren't* serious at all about the quality of Answers,
--always smile and laugh at other people's Questions and Answers, especially the ones that annoy you,
--never have an opinion of your own,
--never disagree with anyone,
--never stick up for yourself--that is just having an agenda after all.
Odds are *someone* who is doing this very thing him or herself will give you stars and thumbs-up over this, and you won't be *as* likely to get the Thumbs Down. This will especially be true if you show signs of "being cute", "being silly", or having a "sense of humor". This will also be true if you write *everything* in SMS even if it makes you sound like a walking talking Prince Lyric.
*lol* See...being "Cool" is over-rated, lame even, when you put it like all that. ^_^
You'll be better off being honest and sincere instead. Just be yourself and Ask the questions you want answered, and *Answer* the questions you find interesting and *know* something about. It won't be "cool" but you'll earn a reputation this way. And yes, being nice and sticking to the rules helps, but not as much as you think it might (sometimes trolls do need to have a Clue Bomb dropped on them).

Don't let the trolls on here bait you into answering an ignorant question because then they will report you and you will get a violation. You have thumbs down trolls who just goes thru and gives everyone a thumbs down so take it personally. Have a sense of humor. Keep in mind this is entertainment! Make sure you read the guidelines the do's & don'ts.

Just play and learn as you go. Don't worry about what others are thinking of you, or you'll be answering questions the way you think an asker wants you to respond. Speak from your own mind and heart.
