Ok i have two box turtles, and they love to dig. in their tank, they'll bury themselves, and sometimes just stay their for days. eventually they come out and eat, but this sometimes makes me nervous. I know they're not hibranating, cause this is like year round, any ideas?

-by the way, they have an outside house, which is very large. it has a pond, trees and lots of digging space. their tank is a good size also, it is made from an old coffee table, with sides put on it.

This is very normal especially for young box turtles. The need the humidity for proper growth and this is one way of achieving it. I'd spray your enclsore once a day and also provide a hide (upsidedown plastic container with a hole cut out).

I know it is worrisome and sometimes you need to dig them out and give them a soak in a shallow pan to feed them. But that's how they work these young boxies. Enjoy!

They are probably board if you are keeping them in a tank. Turtles need exercise and fresh air and sunshine. If they do not have anywhere to go they will dig a hole and go to sleep, the less energy they need the less they will eat.

Totally normal healthy behavior.

Hiding for days is perfectly normal... assuming the basic cares, etc. are OK.

It can, however, also mean that things like temp, humidity, lighting, etc. are flawed.
