Use vinegar in the rinse cycle. It will remove all the detergent from the clothes and will leave them really soft. It's also a great hair conditioner/rinse.

Using fabric softener leaves a film on the fabric, which reduces static electricity, but it also reduces the absorbancy of the fabric and can also cause rashes on your baby. Vinegar leaves no film and leaves the fabric squeaky clean. There is no residual vinegar smell either.

well first off wash them in the detergent called ivory snow . and then use a fabric softner such as downy . also you can use dreft too . both ivory snow and dreft are designed to wash baby clothes in . good luck .
