I was talking with a friend of mine recently and the topic of accents came up. I live in Michigan and I told this friend that we do not have an accent here. I believe this friend is in disagreement with me on this subject.
What are your takes?

You have a really cute accent, but it is an accent nonetheless. I tell you the truth, the midwest particularly the central plain states have the clearest accent of all.
You know if you moved here, we could fix that accent... ROFL

Everyone has an accent! You are just used to the one in Michigan!

As the first few people said, everyone has an accent. If it sounds different to someone else then it is an accent.

We do all have accents. Grew up in California, live in Colorado but can hear differences. It is much less pronounced here in the west than the east.

You think you don't have an accent because you are used to the type of speech that you always hear, and use yourself.
It probably sounds like an accent to someone from someplace else...
I am from Ohio, so my accent is probably quite similar to yours :-))

They have a mid-western accent that is not really distingushable. I moved here to Florida from Chicago and you can really tell the "transpants" and the locals.

There is a midwestern accent that is different from the "standard" American accent. That might be what she is referring to.

You wager. I actually have a southern accessory, so everywhere out of the south my accessory gets mocked. i don't care, and that i wouldn't in any respect substitute my accessory basically because of the fact somebody made exciting of it. i think of all people else talks humorous. lol
