Of course not! Children work in fifth grade non-stop to get prepared for middle school. Kids going into public school have most likely mastered the skills they need - sure, a little more practice would be nice, but it's summer! SUMMER. Kids going into a private middle school for middle school, though, should at least get a little homework.

I believe that if it is a fun learning activity than yes,but if it is just a bunch of boring crap,and it wont make them encouraged to do ,it then it is a waist of time.

no of course not...that last week of school is for ice cream parties, kickball tournaments, basketball shootouts, picnics, and fun!

umm, why not? they don't have final exams to worry about. As long as they don't have work over the summer, it's fine.
