I am wanting to download somthing off of the internet but I want to make sure it don't have a virus before I install it... Thank you for you answers

Save the program when downloading to one of your files, or documents, or "C", drive. When the program is download open and scan with with your antivirus/antispyware before installing.

Download the software from legitimate websites and norton does a real time scanning and has the capability of scanning downloaded files

Download the program and if Norton has nothing found yet, load the file up on virustotal.com before you open it. If any of the programs detects something, delete it.

norton runs in the background and will pick it up straight away..

if its not a legitamate site etc, well that should give you a big hint..
