I was told that putting moth balls near my outdoor a/c unit would stop my dog from chewing on the a/c hoses but it didn't do diddly squat. I can't imagine moth balls keeping snakes at bay either. Good luck.

They make some stuff called "snake away" I think that it is composed of math ball chips, tobacco dust, pepper and thats about it.
