Thank you.
I fight sedition wherever I see it. Right now, it's mostly my party (Democrats, usually the Socialists that have invaded it).
Other times, it's been certain Republicans.
Regardless, none of them are patriotic and should be faced down by every patriotic Republican and Democrat we have.
They have free speech, and sedition is no longer illegal.
It is still contemptible.
We need to draw the line at legitimate disagreement, dissent, and protest (all of which can be done very patriotically, putting the well-being of the country, FIRST, and not undermining our country or insulting our representatives), vs. sedition (name-calling, spreading unfounded rumors, treating our representatives as "guilty until proved innocent", etc.)
There are people deliberately trying to get us to be even MORE seditious.
Is that you, folks? If you stay silent, they are representing you.
You silence gives them license. Your silence is their mandate. Let them speak.
Answer them. Show our children who they SHOULD speak up against. Teach them to speak to our leaders with respect for our country, strength, and patriotism.

Can we just talk common sense for a minute?
Just because someone is elected to an office, or works in a position of authority, does not mean s/he has become a better, wiser or more respectable person. They are the same person they were before, even if some people think the office gives them a kind of divine inspiration and now they are qualified for the authority they have. They are not, if they weren't before.
Whatever respect you give the office, if the person that fills it is not worth your respect - and proves it anew every day - it's the story of the emperor without clothes. People will disregard their common sense and the witness of their own eyes and ears in order to keep their and everybody else's illusions intact.
Do you really think that attitude is a good one to teach to your children?
In a democracy children ought to be taught to question authority, not to accept it blindly.

If a parent explains to a child their reason for disrespecting the Highest Office in the land, then the child will learn and understand that there is a difference between respecting someone who is worthy of respect and disrespecting someone who is unworthy of respect and they will still have respect for who needs to be respected.

Parenting, like public education, is dead (for all intents and purposes). Parents are too busy indulging their own wants, or trying to be their child's best friend. And educators are too busy trying to indoctrinate children into the guilt-ridden army of everything is America's fault.
All I can tell you is that you're on your own. Just remember that everything you do, every decision you make - regardless of your parents or other adults - will form the basis of your entire life.

RESPECT IS EARNED .RESPECT IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY BESTOWED.
No person for any reason should be allowed to demand respect merely because of the position they hold be it a President, a lawyer,a teacher ,a parent etc.
If a parent is a physically/sexually molesting parent are they to be given respect just because they are a parent? What about an alchoholic parent who destroys a family? Or what about a parent who is simply generally un-fit to be a parent.?
Now let's take a look at the Presidency of the US.
We have a President who we now increasingly know deliberately LIED to Americans and the world as to why he decided to wage an ILLEGAL war OF CHOICE against Iraq that has led to the slaughter of over 400,000 innocent Iraqi men, women and children.
This same President has VIOLATED/ABROGATED US committments under a number of International Treaties including the Geneva Conventions on war prisoners.
The President created an environment where the torture and killing of prisoners was an acceptable practise (Remember Gonzale's calling the Geneva Conventions on prisoner treament a virtual silly law.)
If all this does not constiitute "..high crimes and misdemeaners" then I do not know what does.(I quess with Americans the highest crime is recieving oral sex in the oval office but not the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocents in Iraq).
Bush needs to be impeached, removed and removed to Le Hague where he needs to be put on trial for Crimes Against Humanity.
Now grasshopper, you expect me to RESPECT the President and the institution? You expect me to tell my children to respect the totally un-respectable?? You want me to teach my children that no matter what a President does in office,he/she and the institution should be respected?? Dream on !!!!
Boy you and your moral/ethical code would have been welcome in Germany before and during WW11 in protecting Hiltler from "dis-respect".

I thoroughly agree. And, it's being played out by our children, right now. It would appear that they have learned that they don't need to respect anyone - including their parents. Where did they learn that, I wonder??

I agree with Paul..... The only person I hold liable is BUSH! He is not the whole office by far, and if they see me saying this and they agree I would be proud because even the youth of America can see that Bush is to blame for this whole war!

respect is earned position be damned!!!!!!
people who earn respect are very well respected and those that are disrespected have earned that disrespect.
you can't assume children will respect you because of who you are.... it must be mutual.
and the disrespect that surrounds the highest office in the land is what he himself has earned!!!!!!

He's a lunatic figurehead, not a teacher. Teachers, parents, law officers etc. exist for the enrichment of society, not the opposite.
