I was putting new rotors and pads on the front of my taurus and notice the rubber boot that is behind there with a clamp on it has a whole in it and lube/grease is coming out. Does anyone know what the exact name for this is so that I can get the part?

Thanks!

CV joint boot.

ADDED:
If the boot is torn, you may just want to replace the whole CV joint as it may have dirt, road grime, or rocks in it.

If the joint is uncovered and the boot is torn away. then you definately ought to eliminate the axle shaft, clean the entire joint section and installation a clean boot. If there is any clicking noise coming the joint , then you definately ought to replace the joint all mutually. If the joint breaks from airborne dirt and dirt lodged interior the section, that's going to reason the automobile to no longer be pushed in the two foward or opposite gears.. suited is to pass to a fix shop and function the joint evaluated. If the joint is salvagable, then you definately're looking around $150 aspects and exertions. If the joint is undesirable, then purchase an entire a million/2 shaft that has been remanufactured already with a clean joint and boot. The exertions is far less extensive by technique of in basic terms changing the shaft by myself so which you will shop funds on exertions, however the shaft is around $150-a hundred seventy five, so approximately $250 ought to conceal it aspects and exertions. good success and dont force it very far till you fix it.

That is the constant velosity joint or cv joint for short. Each axle has an inner and outer joint. The axle has to be removed and the joint disassembled to replace it. Dont get a split repair boot as they wont last long. May be best to replace the entire axle.

that's called a CV joint boot, and they cost about 12 bucks brand new ,but there really hard to get on ,the axle assembly has to be dis-assembled and cleaned out really good, and then re-greased and put back together again.you,ll be better off having this one repaired.because its a lot harder then it looks to fix this one,as long as it still has some grease in it your alright with it,this means it hasn't been busted very long, but this is something you,ll have to have done in the next few days,or it will ruin the joint, and then you,ll have to replace the whole thing.good luck on it,hope this helps.
