to short guys/girls...does anyone else really hate being short?

i'm not talking about an annoying dislike for it. does it make your life miserable in some ways?

i'm an 18 year old male and about 5'7. i really can't stand it though. tall guys are seen as "more capable", smarter, stronger, etc. i can't tell you how many times i've heard from girls (who are shorter than me) that they have a "minimum requirement" when it comes to height for guys

i hate going out into work or town or somewhere and only coming up to the shoulders of most men. i feel like a little kid hanging out with grownups or something. it's just embarrassing.

i wish i were more secure about my height. my sister is only 4'11 and she's the most secure person i know....but i think it's probably easier for her since she's a girl and she can still pick from any guy she wants. but a lot of girls will eliminate a guy who isn't tall enough (ie "i want someone TALL, dark & handsome). i don't mean to generalize. just stating honest observations

i m 5'7" too...n i m 20, so say my time is more gone than you....

i always dreamed my future to be a tall muscular one since my remembered childhood but here i m n i dont think i ll hit more than 5'8" n believe it or not, i m happy!

i m not sayin cuz now i cant do anything about me but things change, we grow, we go wiser n subtle into things and now i dont think height being a good happy or sad fator of my life....

i m fine n now i m just growin some muscle....we aint that short either, there are people still shorter than us and who are happier than us! u know why? cuz they dont care....there are 1000 million things in the world to make one happy and all we got is a couple of years, nobody can do everything in his/her life, so technically so short time.......forget about how tall you are, dont know if u ll ever realise it but it HARDLY CARES!

and forget about those girls who "want to start their eligibility criteria with the height thing", if u think u r good enough to have a person happy with you for say 50 years, mean girls are losin u anyway.......! we arent in a market where girls n boys buy each other, so forget about when someone shows their weird psychology towards a small thing as height, we r in a world to live together n share our thoughts.....do u think less cuz of u arnt tall enough???

i dont n i just dont care about how tall i m !

I'm 5'6", and I think my height suits me just fine (since I have nothing to compare it to). I don't dislike being short, but I am sometimes annoyed by some of the behaviors engaged in by taller persons, such as attempting to drape an arm around my shoulder (a mistake they'll make only once), or the assumption by some women that you're less desirable than a taller man because of your height. The thing is, they're entitled to their point of view; you're not going to appeal to everyone. If you weren't disqualified by some for your height it would be for some other equally superficial reason. The goal is to be comfortable within your own skin, and to not allow other people to define you. Take a lesson from your sister's example: It may indeed be easier to be short as a female, but being a female in general is full of challenges that she must cope with, and it sounds like she's doing it just fine. From a vantage point of 45 years of age talking to 18 years of age, your height is truly irrelevant to most things that will matter to you, but your self-image will be of paramount importance. I know what you mean, im 5'7 also, and im 19, but you shouldnt worry about height that much. I know how it feels when everyone is taller than you, but there are also many more who are shorter. And the shorter girls who say that they have a height requirement, likely are lying because I know a lot of girls who say they like people of their own height or dont really care about height.
Who would want to have a ladder to kiss their bf right?

You can be fabulous and short. Did you ever watch Little People Big World. That might give you some perspective. Besides there are girls who like short men, you're just not attracting them because your mind is trying to reaffirm your current beliefs so therefore you attract women who give you that "height requirement" nonsense. Sorry to sound so harsh. Again, lots of women don't mind or even prefer a short man so good luck in meeting them. Just be fabulous in yourself, learn from your sister (forget about gender) and lose the resentment.

doctor say at 18 or 20 you stop growing it depends on people like me i come from a tall family i am 5"7 at 14 you were just ment to be short make the best of it =) you have your advanges in being short like i have advanges in being tall and if he hates you cuz of ur height he is not worth it goodluck

Nope doesn't bother me.....I'm 5' nothin' and I come from a family of shorties......I can't change that fact....it's in the genes....I agree that it is a unfortunate mis conception that taller guys are seen as better, but they're not......Just try to be happy with who you are....that's what really counts anyway.
