You can get a virus that way, just via Smart phone because the smartphones have a hard disk and an operative system. If you use a normal, or a MP3 cell phone, the only way you can get a virus is when you plug it in your computer, in these cases you need to scan the phone wiht your PC antivirus, that's all.

There are antiviruses specially designed for smartphones (not standard cell phones), you can get one from the link below. Of course, the option of scanning your smart phone via PC with your antivirus works.

Yes, there are cases of cell phone viruses. It is best to contact your cell customer service to learn more about your particular cell phone. I contacted my service and was told the phone I have would not receive viruses.
