Um no. The national tax on gasoline hasn't gone up and Bush has nothing to do with gas prices.

"Isn't gasoline just like an extra tax for EVERY AMERICAN?"
Interesting, step out of the box perspective.
Here's my opinion, I have a right to believe it and a right to change it.™
The cost is paid by everyone who buys gasoline, not just American.
The cost of gasoline has the effect similar to a regressive tax. That is one that impacts lower income purchasers at a rate higher than those with greater income. The sales tax is a regressive tax. It is a % of sales, so the higher the price, the higher the tax (revenue).

Tax & Fees Included in the Retail Price of a Gallon of Motor Fuel at a Service Station. California.
Effective Date: January 1, 2006
Gasoline Diesel
Federal Fuel Tax $.184 $.244
State Fuel Tax $.18 $.18
State Underground Storage Tank Fee (UST)
$.014 $.014
Sales Tax (a) Determined at the Retail Location

Actually a County determined % tax, as I mentioned.

"Regressive taxes reduce the tax incidence of people with higher incomes, as they shift the incidence disproportionately to those with smaller incomes." (2).

The tax on gas remains the same. It's the price of the gasoline itself that keeps going up. The government doesn't make any more money than before when prices go up, but it DOES lose money when people decide to boycott gasoline. How is that helping America? I'm not for letting those greedy businesses make more money off of our troubles, though. Something needs to be done.

No, actually gasoline is nothing like a federal tax. The 2 are completely seperate things. You think the president and congress sit in washington and decide what the price of gas should be?

Gasoline taxes are state taxes, county taxes, as well as federal taxes. The president has very little to do with gasoline taxes. That dosen't totally negate your total question, however. George H.W. Bush signed the largest tax increase in history. The last I heard he is a Republican.

Republicans like to call the Democrats the "Tax and Spend" party.

But it's a fact that for every dollar that Democratic presidents have raised the national debt, Republican presidents have added $2.59.

Reagan and Bush The Lesser have given us by far the biggest deficits in history, deficits that will have to be paid through tax increases and loss of services.

No gasoline is a product that you buy from a private merchant.

The largest profit from the sale of gasoline does go to the government in the form of taxation, so you are partly Right.

Gasoline prices first went through the roof during the Clinton administration and were boosted by the addition of fuel additives which supposedly help the environment and add quite a bit to the cost. So you can thank spendthrift democrats who have no fiscal responsibility for the rise in prices. If democrats would support more drilling in the US we wouldn't have such a dependence on foreign oil. So, no the republicans haven't "taxed" anyone and haven't lied, thanks for asking.

I'm sorry, I must have missed it when the Republicans passed the law that raised gasoline prices.

Yes, Bush's policies have caused the price of everything to go through the roof including state and local taxes.
