I had miscarried 2yrs ago, after a vascectomy. Now it is reversersed. 2 months ago had another miscarriage. Dr. say I'm in perfect health. I worried I'm flirting with a downs baby. I'm a bit worried due to my age. Dr. suggested prometrium on next pregnancy. But I still want my body to take care of any abnormal development of the baby. Anybody have this going on?

If you can have a child, and want one, why wouldn't you?

The only thing to think about - if tests show problems, what would you do? Chances of Downs go up in older mothers. Still rare (what, 1 in 20 for 40yo? Pretty rare!) but would you have an abortion or raise a "special" child?

I wouldn't suggest you make this an obsession, but at least give it a little thought and discussion so you're both not surprised if the question should happen. Would you have an abortion? Dealing with handicapped children can either stregthen a marriage or, more often, pull it apart.

Good luck and good health!!

I got pregnant accidentally at age 39, am now 38 weeks, expecting a girl. Chances of Down syndrome are elevated at our age from that of younger women, but are still not very high. I had an amniocentesis (the risks of miscarriage from amnio have been shown to be extremely low, only 1 in 1,600 by a new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association) and it came out clean for Down syndrome and a whole host of other abnormalities it tests for, which put my mind at ease. Good luck.

you do need to read on the med before taking it
I heard that is help people with miscariages
I had 3 miscarriages and nlw pregnant I am taken Utrogestan 200mg it is a progesteron just like Prometrium
and Utrogestan can be taking by mouth or Vaginal
my doc want me to take it Vaginally I have not notice side effect but I heard and also read that Prometrium have severe sde effects
so it is up to you and your doc ask them about Utrogestan maybe you might prefer it
I also take trophygil suposutory after my period (low dose of progesteron) and I used preseed & fertil aid for women my used fertilaid for men I can not say it these are the cause that I am pregnant but I am 7weeks and I see heart beat
to me that is a great celebration just to see the heart beat
so I am taking this pregnancy wk by wk I thank god for every wk that passed
By the way I am 38 and my husband and I have been trying for 3 years (since we been married)
Goodluck & hope to write Congrats to you soon

had my first one at your age, after 3 miscarriages. Then another child 17 months later. Both are fine.( oldest turned out to be gifted) Even young women have to worry about all that . Because I was considered "high risk" because of the miscarriages, I refused to do amniocentesis, because it has a risk of causing miscarriage.
