They made a good case for themselves this past season. It wouldn't be totally out of left field.

I think the Chargers made some bad decisions in the off season. You don't remove a head coach from a team that went 14-2. It wasn't Marty's fault that there were bad decisions made by players on the field against the Patriots. The past two SB winning coaches were coaches that people once said that they can't win the big one, and they did.

I don't think last year was their year however. I think the Colts would've beat them if they did get by the Pats. The Chargers were benefactors of an easy schedule last year. I think it could've been their year if they stuck with Drew Brees though.
This I think was another bad decision. Rivers will be a serviceable QB, but he will not be Drew Brees.

Therefore, the Chargers I feel have a lot of the talent in place to win a SB, but AJ Smith keeps screwing it up. Peyton will repeat this year.

The Chargers have just as much of a chance of winning the superbowl as any team. I can tell you now that it won't happen this year but if next year right before the draft, they take a look at their depth charts, and have a talk with the players on their team to help find out what positions they should focus on more in the draft, they will have a great chance of getting some rings in the distant future.

Sometimes I wonder if some of the people answering these questions ever actually watch football or know anything about the game other than who thier favorite team is and the names of a few players.
San Diego has more talent than any team in the league right now, just look at who sent the most players to the pro bowl last year, that's right the Chargers.
The defense is solid, the loss of Donnie Edwards and Randall Godfrey will not effect the play of the defense much, if they have any weakness, it's the secondary.
The person above me who said they will get run all over this year needs to look at how San Diego has been against the run in past seasons, teams will NOT run all over them, San Diego has the best pass rush going right now and as for the person that said if San Diego had gotten past New England they would have been beaten by Indy, San Diego has owned Indy for the past three seasons.
Can San Diego win it all EVER, yes, in fact watch out for them this year, they have the best running game in the league and now with Norv Turner, they will learn how to use thier talent in ways that they had not used them previously, for example, moving Gates to a wide out in some sets and using either Tomlinson or Michael Turner in the slot.
San Diego had an easy schedule last year? What the hell are you talking about? They are in the toughest division in football, the only "easy" games they had were against the Oakland Raiders.
They were the best team in the regular season last year, they just dropped the ball in the playoffs (literally).

I wish my Broncos were the reason to say no, but instead....the truth.

You don't fire Marty Schottenheimer after a 14-2 season when he's only had two losing seasons in 16. You don't fire him when he tried to readjust his coaching staff to make a better playoff run this time. And you sure don't hire a buster head coach like Norv Turner (no winning seasons). Should have let Marty hire Norv as offensive coordinator. That's an offense/defense mix to believe.

NO. There year was last year and Marty blew it for them with his bad big game caoching. The Defense is goood but will take a dive this year because they lost their LBs Donnie Edwards and Randall Godfrey. People are going ot run all over them. LT will start declining. Slowly but Surely he will start declining.

Not in the near future. Neither will the Browns, Chiefs and Redskins for the same reason: ******* Marty.

They're the Oilers. They won't make it until they move, and they will still be one yard short.
