I worked with Randstad- if you have office experiance they are great for helping you find relatively high paying work (I was making about 20 an hour) and if you are upfront about needing to be able to go on auditions, most employers are ok since you are just a temp. Just do so responsibly and give as much advance notice as possible. Randstad will have you take tests on typing, Excel, Word and Powerpoint, so go to their website and use the practice tests first. Another good one is LSP- Legal Services Personnel- but I think you have to have at least a bachelors for it. Both agencies come up in google- just specify NY so you don't get Randstad's LA branch.

Get the Sunday edition of the New York Times and look for temp agencies in the classified. You'll find a lot of them.
