I'm going for my appointment in August and I haven't gone to driving school, I did home training and I only went to get my 8 hours of drug and alcohol classes, well anyways, Im real nervous because I don't do well under pressure. Please share your own experiences with me like if you went to drivers ed or not and what did the instructor make you do in the test, etc.

Instructors teach you to do what is expected of you in your driving test. i started with home training and was also very nervous, after 6 lessons with an instructor I was still a little nervous but gained confidence in myself. I got my license the first go so it was very worthwhile for me. Showing you are a safe driver is the most important thing. We all go through this. Good Luck....stay cool.

Try to get a friend or family member to let you drive the car in an empty lot or cemetery for a few hours before the test so you can get used to it and relax. It is hard to do something when it is brand new so you need some practice.

I took my daughter to a cemetery nearby that has lots of winding roads, stop signs, etc. We drove around for hours. It had practically no one there so driving was not stressful. I taught her to stop, start, turn, signal - just about everything she needed to acclimate to driving a car. It was a great start to her instruction. We eventually logged about 30 hours of driving everywhere you can think including highway. She is now a terrific driver and I take a lot of pride that I taught her how.

If your DMV is near a busy intersection try to schedule in the mornings when there isn't much traffic.
My daughter went out of the driveway to the stop sign and creeped out to see past a parked car. A car came whizzing around the corner the instructer pulled on the hand brake and failed her. It was totally lame and we made sure she never got that instructor on the next test which she took the following week and passed!
So if you don't pass its not always you it could be some instructor with panic attacks.

If you take it easy and relax, it will all work out. Everyone must go through this test to be on the road. Look at the number of people out on the road, there's millions. They passed and so can you. It does seem bad before you go but, the instructor isn't going to bite your head off. It's really easy if you practice your situations in traffic, read books about driving, etc. etc. It's really not all that bad at all. I hope you get your license! Best wishes!!!

Relax. You'll be fine. Always know where your parking break is!!! I failed my first driving test because I didn't know where it was! Also, during the driving test, keep trying, just don't sit there and say, "I give up." Then they will have to fail you, if you keep trying to back in the parking spot or whatever, that's fine, that's what the normal driver does. Also, go in to the test knowing that you passed it. Positive thinking. good luck.

some states won't allow you to get your license in the previous 18 while you're no longer a intense college graduate (i think Florida is one). Congratulations on chucking up the sponge by making use of the way, i assume you would be suckling off the federal teat now? Oh, of direction no longer, you will write back approximately hardships, and assisting your loved ones, and how annoying life is, boo hoo hoo. added info: oooh, nailed it.

If you want to be confident to pass the actual test you have to do a lot of actual driving in the road before the actual test.

Relax. You'll do fine.

I'm sure the tests are a little different in each state and country. Where are you from? Ask your friends in school about their experiences with the local test.

if you think that you need more driving time then take it. just relax. the more nervous you are the more mistakes you might make. remember you are the one in control not the car. one question. would you be able to take the car on your own right now and bring the car back in one piece.
