my mother is not your typical embarrasing mom who make you beet red by calling you intimate names. She's flat out inmature and almost preteen in her behavior and apparently her thinking process. How do you deal with someone like that whom over the years has hurt you so much that you no longer feel sympathy for her?

You don't deal with her, you bear with her. Mothers cannot be bartered. Accept her for what she is for she is not going to change now after so many years. I believe you are done with reasoning and persuading with her and she doesn't understand your standpoint.

You obviously are upset with her for causing you embarrassment within your social circuit. But believe me people are shocked only first time. With time even they will accept her mental incapabilities/incapacities and will not dump you because of her.....

My mom used to let me drink at 14 and smoke and have guys spend the night. She acted more like a friend than a mom. She's manipulative in a preteen sort of way. Even now, she's 47 and her boyfriend is 30! She dresses younger than I do and a lot of people feel the need to tell me that. All you can do is embrace her. She's your mother and I bet she loves you with all her heart. She's not going to change.

My mother was like that as I was growing up. She will eventually grow older and realize what a fool she has been. In the meantime you should try to stay close, but live your life your own way. I moved out when I was 16.

Shes acting this way because she thinks is the only way to get to you. Like its the only way you can understand her. Shes trying to be cool. Or she just never grew-up and is still liveing like shes 13. Either way shes yer mom but that doesnt mean you cant out smart her. Treat her like your little sister.

Well, that is what people thought therapy was for. I think that a more mature response on your part may come to you if you tried to understand why she is that way. People do not always have the most mature response to situations, but it is a response to situations. In most therapy, the purpose is to try to get people to think before they respond because their first response is not the most mature, but most people react to situations rather than try to think of the best response, and that is why their responses appear immature.
