In very general terms - hard drive size and RAM. It is very difficult to compare processors purely on speed alone without some third party, non-bias test. You can only use the GHz speed to compare processors of the same manufacturer and even family. Dual and quad core processors may be 1/2 the clock speed of a single core processors, but when using software that is optimized to take advantage of multi-cores - it's going to blow the doors off a single core processor.

Extra hard drive space is used in memory paging and of course, the more stuff the computer can put into memory is going to make it thrash less.

For speed and efficiency, RAM is always the most important on a laptop or a desktop. After that is the speed of the hard drive. You need to have a hard of sufficient size, but also look for one with the fastest access time or rpm listing. I always recommend at least 1 GB of RAM if your computer will take it, especially if you are running the newer MS operating systems.

Depends upon your computing needs and the type and age of the laptop. Most users won't really care, if all you are doing is browsing the web, chatting, retrieving and sending e-mail and simple spreadsheets and word processing, then even an old Pentium laptop would work fine. Your communication link might be more important, as if you are on a 56K modem vs. a very fast cable modem or DSL modem. The OS might matter, as VISTA needs fast CPU, lots of RAM and even a graphic chip to run half way decent vs. Windows 2000, which is very stable and does not need much more than 128MB RAM, 10GB Hard Drive and a 700MHz CPU would be fine.

It definitely depends on what you may use the laptop for. For example, if you're a graphics designer, all of what you mention shall be the widest and fastest ones in relation to speed and storing capabilities, not forgetting a reliable and state-of-the-art graphics card. Personally, RAM above 512 MB and a fast processor can do the job for most of business or domestic uses. Nowadays people stores DVDs, complex games and applications on them so over-hundred GBs ones could fulfil such needs.

The power of the processor and also the amount of RAM. I suggest anything over 500MB is fine. Under that and it can be a bit slow. The speed of the processor is measured in GZ (giga-hertz) . My laptop is 1.5, and that is OK. See if you could get a bit higher than that if possible. =]

I think it would be the size of a Hard Drive. Laptops are portable and so you may need a lot of GB for it where ever u go.

RAM probably. CPUs and harddrives are pretty standard.
