My husband and I may be moving to PA in a few weeks due to his job. We're considering the Bethlehem area. Any tips on where to live and what to do? We're from the south, Alabama (Nope. We're not redneck, ha), will we be accpeted?

I have lived in PA all my life.

First 16 years or so in NorthEast Philly which is changing by the day so I am glad I moved to the subs.

It's a very nice place to live...if you pick the right area.

Welcome to PA- The state that never sleeps...unless its after 11 PM ;-)

Here is some websites you can visit for more info and I hope you enjoy it here there or where ever you choose!

Yes Pennsylvania is a very nice place to live. I recommend Lower Merion, Bucks County, or Center City Philadelphia. Pennsylvania is very nice.
Good luck moving to Pennsylvania, I hope you fit in.

Living in Pa. for the last 44 years, I will tell you that it depends on where you live. Bethlehem is a small area. If you're from Alabama and are used to small rural areas, then Bethlehem, Allentown or Reading might suit you. I have friends down there and there isn't much to do except for flea markets, Dorney Park and shopping. Pa. is an easy state to get around in so you can pretty much get anywhere without too much problems. Learn how to get by using the back roads...avoid the turnpike! If you want something a little bigger, but with still a rural feeling to it, you might want to try Allentown.

I have lived in PA for 26 years and I loved it. I tried other places, but keep coming back. It is so close to the Jersey Shores,New York City, and Baltimore. Not to mention only a 4 hr drive to Boston.

I currently live in Philadelphia, but grew up just north of Phila in the suburbs. If you husband is be transferred to Phila, then I would suggest either Bucks County or Delaware count.

Bethlehem seems to be quite boring to me, so I would never recommend it to anyone, but you may like it. It is very slow paced and kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Let me know if you need of any help - I am a Realtor here.

Since you are from the south, you might like Chester County, more rural, and very nice.
But I think I would need more information as to the location where your husband is going to be working to give a real educated answer. Doesn't his company have moving assistance, and shouldn't this have been decided already if you are moving in a few weeks? Quite short notice. But good luck!

The more rural areas of PA are very nice.. But I lived in the city of Bethlehem most of my life, and personally I HATED it. The city of Allentown is even worse. Right now I live in a rural-ish area of Walnutport, which is north of Bethlehem/Allentown but still in the Lehigh Valley. I love it here.

My Home Town. Oil City, PA or just about anywhere in the Venango or Clarion County Areas. You definitely have to bring the work you do in with you, but the area is beautiful and secluded.
