I can choose to focus and re-focus on what I enjoy in life.
What I don't like helps to create my preferences. It is useful but I don't have to homestead over there. Enjoy!

Good question!
I was a weird child. At 12 years old I fell into a deep depression because I would feel guilty about being happy with all the suffering going on. Then I would feel guilty about feeling guilty. I was literally hiding under my covers, not wanting to go to school, not wanting to face the injustices humans were capable of. The air raid sirens and diving under our desks at school really did not help matters. This went on for several months. Shrink visits did not help. I was a mess. I was so attached to wanting to fix everyone and everything. Then, thank the Universe Mother, I experienced a very different kind of dream. A kind man was walking with me through a war zone, bombs falling, people and babies being killed right in front of us, and he simply said, "You did not break the world, so you are not responsible for fixing it. This is all going on and there is nothing you can do EXCEPT not add hate to it. Act from unconditional love and there are no wrong actions." Well...... after waking from this most unusual lucid dream I was a changed kid! I was so happy, it was weird. I was so free from guilt and worry. Freaked my mom out because the change in me was so sudden yet lasting.
I read a short book recently, Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra,(very evolved man from India who I love dearly) Check it out. It is full of ideas about attaining joy and bliss while eliminating guilt. Also, The Course In Miracles is a great read. What is left when fear and hate are removed from our consciousness?
Happy Happy Joy Joy!

By trying as best we can to help alleviate it through donations
or volunteer work. If we make this a part of our lives, I think
our enjoyment of it will be richer in every way. Just by burying
our heads and pretending it doesn't exist actually effects
us on a subconscious level, especially when were all so
aware of the problems in the world today. Piecing your
life together in sections of contribution ... work, marriage,
family, giving back, play, etc. makes you feel whole and
fulfilled always.

I just saw many people sitting out on a sunny day enjoying themselves on a patio. We see what we want to see.

The same way we can continue to eat everyday when we know there are people starving somewhere. Survival instinct.
