Congrats on being 4cm dialated. Don't worry about time.
Rest when you need to but most importantly when in labour stay on your feet or a yoga ball or crouched to keep gravity working with you to keep that baby coming!!!
Call your midwife now and let her know how things are going and your fears of not feeling the contractions, although I am sure when you are in hard labour you're going to know it!
It's normal for your waters not to break until later into the labour and this shouldn't be a worry for you.
Relax and enjoy this quiet before the storm while it lasts.
Good luck and congrats again.

well. Ive been 4 cm dialted and contractions just as close for over 2 weeks now. I was in preterm labor however, so they stopped me from giving birth. Now Im not on any medication to stop the contractions and I have them every 5 minutes. Ive been this way for days. My water has not broken. Im hoping they induce me at 36 weeks as my body is exhausted and the doctor says this is not normal, although it happens at times.
So, it could be any time. Or hopefully it could be soon for you :-)

i'm also 37 weeks + and i've been at 3 cm for a month now - also having braxton hicks all day and night, sometimes as close as 3 minutes apart. trust me, when you're in labor YOU"LL KNOW IT. my midwife has told me not to come in until the cramping gets so bad that i can't walk or have to concentrate to get through the pain. thus far they have been milder than that. nobody knows when you'll deliver, but my guess is within the month :)

You are probably in very early stages of labor. Labor can last up to a few weeks before you are in stage one of pregnancy. It is very uncomfortable but things to look for is bloody show (blood tinged mucus discharge) if contraction are regular and more intense over time. Good luck.

I was at 2cm and 100% effacced for 7 days, then dialated to 4 and within 24 hours I had the baby. You are very close!! I couldn't feel any contrations that had dialated me to 4, but trust me, you will start to feel them and there is no denying them once you get them.

my mom always told me :if you can sleep through them, you are not in active labor.
here i was admitted for being 4cm considered in active labor with contractions 5 minutes apart, of course i was also in preterm labor and they wanted to stop it.
when in doubt, go in. if you feel like it is real stay in the waiting room or walk the halls if they do not admit you.
good luck, sorry i can't be of more help!!!!

If you do dnot want to wait to find out (no one know for sure when this will happen) talk to your doc about being induced. You are moving right along like I was and I decided to go ahead and go through with it. I wasn't sure what or when to expect my baby so I though thtis was a better choice!

Just keep going to your doctors appointments and he would tell you when to go to the hospital. The same thing happened to my best friend she didn't even know she was in labor. but the pain will kick in once your in real labor.
