What city and state are you in?

In Los Angeles there's LACHSA and in Santa Ana there's OCHSA. They have different 'majors' and you have to audition to be in one of the programs. For instance if you're in the musical theatre program, you would sing 32 bars and perform a monologue for your audition, but for Production and Design you must bring a portfolio where you show designs for one scene of one show for everything from scenery to costumes and props. The neat thing is that you are with many students who are interested in the same thing you are and your curriculum has the prerequisite Math and English, but you have Voice and Acting as regular classes! The possible drawback? More competition! However sometimes that brings out the best in people :-)

Aside from a school specifically for the arts, many high schools do have a theatre program just not to that extent. You have to check out whether your school is one where you must take theatre as an elective or if school productions are extra-curricular and can be done after school.

Most high schools in the USA have an acting department.
It is where students develop their passion for theatre and begin performing in plays.

Schools for the performing arts can be found in most major cities nowadays. The Chicago Academy for the Arts was where I went and LOVED it. There are also some outside of cities...Interloken and Piven for example.
