Celebrity heiress Paris Hilton has been jailed for 45 days after being found guilty of violating her probation for a drink-driving conviction.
A Los Angeles judge ruled she must start her sentence on 5 June and has no prospect of an early release.
Ms Hilton told the judge she was very sorry and that she would "pay complete attention to everything" from now on.
The socialite said she did not know her licence had been suspended when caught driving without headlights in February.
How did she end up behind bars?
Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer originally sentenced Hilton in May to serve 45 days in jail for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless-driving case. She surrendered to sheriff's deputies on June 3 and was booked at the Lynwood jail. She was released Thursday with an electronic-monitoring bracelet to serve the remainder of her sentence at home. Sauer ordered her to appear in court Friday and sent her back to jail to complete her 45-day term.

She was driving with a suspended license. The judge wanted to use her as an example because she was a celebrity. Lots of people have been guilty of the same without having to serve time in Jail. Sending her to jail is costing the taxpayers unnecessary money. People should not be used to "make an example" to others. There's no reason she can't have house arrest. For God's sake, just fine her up the wohoozy and use her money to benefit the taxpayers instead!!!! Have her do community service! What good is jail going to do? Have the judge force her to use her limo driver! There's a thousand alternatives that are better than costly inappropriate jail sentences. She's in jail because she got stuck with an unjust judge or cares more about punishment than justice.

It's kinda something about her license? Her license had expired and she didn't renew it, but she still drives even her license is expired...I think it's the reason why Paris Hilton get in jail...

3 dui's then on the last court date she showed up 30 late to appear before the judge. Plus there was an outburst in the court as well.

what i heard was that she was driving without a drivers license
at night without any lights and towards on coming traffic.

she broke probation...she was caught drunk driving, then on 2 occasions after that, she was caught driving with a suspended licence(don't think i spelt that right lol)
