I'd say just about more than 50% is predictable since there is so much that can change in weather patterns. It also depends where you get your information from because some organizations reporting have lesser equipment and resources to look over and are not able to fully look at the big picture and predict any thing that might change from the ordinary.

San Diego Weather Forecast 15 Day

2016-11-13 06:09:32 · answer #2 · answered by mangus 4 · 0 0

A 15 day forecast wouldn't be very accurate whether it be online or given by your local weather station. It's very hard, if not near impossible to predict what the weather will do 15 days in advance. The weather is just to unpredictable. It's constantly changing. Your best bet is to follow a 3-day forecast. Those are usually more accurate.

Not very accurate. In fact any thing over three days is getting into climatology and guess work. All long range forecast are based on weather models. The main ones are the gfs, eta, and ngm. With those only one goes out more than 72 hours and that is the gfsx. There are more models and just because these models are the main ones does not make them always the best. It just depends... Anyways the gfsx after 72 hours takes into consideration two things very strongly. Where the jet stream is located and climatology or historically what has happened in the past. It cannot see things like shortwaves or small disturbances in the jet stream more than really 36 hours out with any certainty. Due to this I would certainly not base a vacation around what a 14 day forecast predicts.

30%. No one can make a 100% correct prediction on weather that's 15 days away. It's impossible.

try to go to a place where the weather is always the same. That's the only way to predict it that far out. I hear San Diego is that way.

i would use it to judge plans for a weekend roughly. but i wouldn't rely on it like right on the money because really you can't tell the weather that early in advance. weather can change very fast. but to get a rough idea its usually helpful.
