I cut up an old potatoe and planted it. The plants got huge and almost look like a bush. But they never got flowers on them. I'm not sure when to dig them up but the plants are now starting to yellow and wilt. I live in No.GA.

For maximum storage life, wait about two weeks after the vines die back to allow the skins to set. Allow the potatoes to cure after digging them in a cool, dark place. You will probably not get enough to keep for a long time so use them quickly.

You can dig them, really, at any time, however. These immature "new" potatoes will have very thin skins and they should be used immediately

When your plants start to die, its time to dig em up. They wont get any bigger if the plant is not alive. I live in south Alabama and I dug mine up about 2 weeks ago.

just uncover a couple and see if they are ready. If not cover them back over.
