They probably met, but were they friends? There is no record, however, reflecting that they were friends.
Boone was from Kentucky (had spent a number of years in Crockett's home state of Tennessee) and Crockett was from Tennessee; two adjoining states.
Daniel Boone (October 22, 1734 – September 26, 1820) was an American pioneer and hunter whose frontier exploits made him one of the first folk heroes of the United States.
Colonel David Crockett (August 17, 1786 – March 6, 1836) was a celebrated 19th-century American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier and politician; usually referred to as Davy Crockett and by the popular title "King of the Wild Frontier".
The Kentucky rifle became legendary through the stories of American frontiersmen Daniel Boone (1734–1820) and Davy Crockett (1786–1836).
Here are well known tributes to both:
The Ballad of Davy Crockett
Born on a mountain top in Tennessee
Greenest state in the Land of the Free
Raised in the woods so he knew evry tree
Kilt him a b'ar when he was only three.
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
Off through the woods he's a marchin along
Makin up yarns an a singin a song
Itchin for fightin an rightin a wrong
Grizzley as a bar an twice as strong.
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
His land is biggest an his land is best
From grassy plains to the mountain crest
Hes ahead of us all meetin the test
Followin his legend into the West.
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
Davy, Davy Crockett, King of the wild frontier!
Tom Blackburn and George Bruns
(The Bill Hayes hit version had 20 verses.)
Daniel Boone
Daniel Boone was a man,
Yes, a biiiiiig man!
With an eye like an eagle
And as tall as a mountain was he!
Daniel Boone was a man,
Yes, a biiiiiig man!
He was brave, he was fearless
And as tough as a mighty oak tree!
From the coonskin cap on the top of ol Dan
To the heel of his rawhide shoe;
The rippin-est, roarin-est, fightin-est man
The frontier ever knew!
Daniel Boone was a man,
Yes, a biiiiiig man!
And he fought for America
To make all Americans free!
What a Boone, what a doer,
What a dream come-er true-er was he!

Most likely not. Boone life was from 1734 to 1820 and died of natural causes at age 84 (about).
Whereas Crockett's life was from 1786 to 1836 and died at The Alamo in 1836 at only 50 (about).
Boone was about 52 when Crockett was born, and Boone died at about 84 when Crockett was only about 34.

Was looking through family history and found answers. a relative of mine by the name of Jacob Siler (I think he made the Siler Flintlock) knew them both at different points in his life. http://democratherald.com/blogs/graham-kislingbury/the-daniel-boone-davy-crockett-connection/article_49e38e49-f2ee-5c1b-a2cb-3331def2f95f.html

Daniel Boone was real and his exploits were real. It would make a great movie if someone were to make it.

Daniel Boone was real, (being related to him, I would know) no records indicate that, although they may have been from the same part of the country, they probably never met.

There is no definitive answer. I hope they did as they had so much in common. They are giant legends of frontier America who will both live in perpetuity. They have met in the thoughts of all romantic historians.
