Would you throw a Party for your Dog? If so how much would you spend? If not why wouldnt you celebrate your dog the way you celebrate humans? Dont Dogs like attention and socializing like humans?

Ok for those of you that think your dogs birthday means nothing to them and its just another day your probably right. After all if nobody ever celebrated your birthday it would probably mean nothing to you to it would be just another day. Maybe some of you should think more from your dogs perspective when you answer this. Oh and FOOD is not equal to your dog having a few puppy friends over to play and socialize.

You must not have children thus projecting your feelings that you would have for them (your children) on your pet.
To answer your question - no, I would not. I don't personify animals. I care about them but I do not see them as having the need to have a party. Yes, they love attention but most do not like crowds of people giving them attention. I think it would make them nervous.

Why not? Sounds like fun. As far as spending, it would depend on what I could afford and if I could afford a lot I would probably buy a number of toys, maybe 50.00 worth or so. If I didn't have much, I'd go to a large pet store and buy their clearance items which sometimes are next to nothing though formerly pricey. Here's a hint for any income: If you go to the large pet stores about a week after special occasions like Christmas or Halloween, there will be expensive toys greatly reduced. We clean up at those times and save the toys for occasions. The dogs don't know they are Christmas toys, they just know it's fun. I keep new toys in my closet and wash and put away the ones in their basket, trading out the toys so they think they are getting something new all the time.

I've had 4 dogs- and have never thrown a party for them! The one I have now does not like other animals so inviting puppy friends over would cause a ruckus. He gets special treats often and time for loving everyday.

I usually invite my friends and tell them to bring their pets...look up some fun recipes for dogs on the internet and cook a meal for the doggies and have a cook out for the people....I also order a doggie cake from the local doggie bakery and get some doggie ice cream......and I'll make a people cake and get some real ice cream...any reason for a party is good for me....oh and I normally spend about $300 on all of that (most of it is the alcohol for the people LOL)

My daughter and I threw a mini party for our "pound puppy" after we'd had him for a year. We had cake for dessert, but gave him a 1/2 serving of Frosty Paws. It's a frozen treat for dogs found in the frozen food dept of our super market.

No.
Why not? Because its a dog, and although she's a part of the family, she can't appreciate the party in the same way as humans. Birthdays and such mean nothing to them.
I will give her a new toy & chewy tho. :-)

Yes I would. That sounds like so much fun! Why not celebrate your best friend. Let him/her invite friends and make it a social event for the pets and the owners.

We give our dog a vanilla cupcake for his birthday, it's the same day as another family members and that person loves vanilla cupcakes. Lucky dog gets one every year. My kids love to feed their dog a cupcake, it's pretty funny to watch.

No. My dogs are happiest just getting fed, and loved on a daily basis. A "party" is pretty much what they have every day.
