You are pretty much correct however you must clear both directions three times and then proceed carefully but you must stop behind the white line only time you drift forward and stop again is in the event of a blind corner where it is impossible to see on coming traffic. Not many of those left. Check your drivers hand book some states have different rules. Good luck

You have to come to a FULL STOP half a meter before the line. Then after 5 seconds, cross the line slowly with half of the car's body moving up towards the intersection, if it's clear, GO.

Be safe... Don't drink & Drive!

When stopping, you are supposed to be able to put into park, then back into gear. In that time frame move your head, not your eyes, to all streets. That way the person giving your test knows you are actually looking.

At a stop sign, stop in front of the line. If no line, stop 4 feet in front of the sign or corner.

Take your time.

My guess is that you are not stopping fully. When I was first driving, I got ticketed for not coming to a complete stop. Stop behind the line, and count to three. Then, if you can't see, ease forward until you can.

What you're suppose to do is come to a full and complete stop, then look both ways before proceeding. I hope you do better the second time around. Good Luck.

Just remind yourself each time that STOP does not mean Slight Tap On Pedal. Worked for me!
