The Goths were a different people to the more broad Germanic peoples. The Germanic peoples are believed to have lived in modern Germany, Scandinavia and Great Britain, though they interbred with peoples all through Europe.
There were a variety of different languages and cultures in ancient Europe, Germanic was strong but equally so was Latinate.
