If parents raise their children, starting at a very early age, with morals and values and teaching them along the way that EVERY action has a responsibility attached to it, it wouldn't be necessary. I don't know if you are being literal or not but if you are, then HEY, join the 21st century. Chastity belts are medieval and were cruel and sexist when they were used. I pity the society that would condone that, but then again, they would probably condone public floggings, stocks, stonings, and gladiator games and throwing Christians to the lions.
Parents should be responsible for teaching their children about sex and the consequences that can occur,ie, pregnancy, STD's including herpes and AID's. Parents should also teach their children about forms of birth control and how to avoid STD's. Teaching and encouraging abstinance is great but we all need to be realistic. Taking away a woman's or a man's human rights, even if it is for what someone thinks is a legitimate reason, is wrong and barbaric. God gave us all a brain and the capability of making choices, right or wrong. The ability of making decisions and hopefully the right ones, is a human right. Children grow up and parents just have to hope and pray that they did their jobs in teaching their children morals and values, but in the end, in a modern , compassionate society, those children become young adults and hopefully make the correct, wise decisions with the least amount of pain involved.

I don't think it should be legal in Canada or the USA (thats all I can speak of...do what you want and whatever is acceptable in your country and if its not legal here and you have a problem with that~ go back then) because we have a little thing called Human rights... I have 3 daughters and would NEVER even consider the idea!
Education is key... Don't be such a lazy parent!

I agree with Marianne! It takes two to tango so don't assume all girls need "help" here, boys need to be taught responsibility and abstinince as well. And no, it should not be legal for parents of either boys or girls to use chastity belts; if you are a good parent you will have nothing to worry about, teach your kids right.

It should be legal only if you do the same for the sons. There is a little plastic holder that fits over a penis so if parents force a daughter, then should force a son. After all, if they are concerned about unwanted pregnancy for the daughter then they should also worry about the son getting another girl pregnant.

It sounds like child abuse to me. Of course, they could come up with chastity belts for guys -- that would stop the problem.
