There are honest politicians but those are the ones that only last one term usually. If they don't take bribes, don't help big contributors to their campaign and just generally don't play the politics game, the political machine (whether it is Democrat or Republican) makes sure they are not reelected. This is the very reason we need a third viable party. It may clean up some of the corruption. It is ridiculous that someone can make a whole career out of being a politician. It should be 10 years or so and that's it. That would put the brakes on kick-backs, payoffs, blackmail, and bribes. We should be sending out brightest and best to Washington, not our richest and most corrupt.

I wouldn't go so far as to say there are NO politicians that aren't corrupt, but I doubt they are in the majority. I would also bet that the longer they have been in office, the more likely they are to be corrupt. Power does that to you...even if you start out well-meaning.

The job of people in power, is to stay in power.
They will do whatever it takes. They of course lie when it suits them, but also help people, represent the wishes of the the people. Kings and emporers had to do the same.
Corruption is part and parcel of power. But I believe corruption is merely a different type of government. In the US, the mafia became strong because the US government, including police and judges, didn't help the Italian immigrants and ignored their crime issues. So the mafia reduced petty crime and gain corrupt power and taxed the people.
Business as well, often needs to get things done. Sometimes the laws are too restrictive and corruption makes things move smoothly. Unfortunately, too much corruption results in bad and dangerous business.

I don't know every politician, but even the ones I don't like are not necessarily corrupt.
I think they 'lie' by omission more than by commission and are so obsessed with putting forward a 'party view' that real debate is lost in spin.
Corrupt in the sense of fiddling expenses, stealing or morally so?
No more than the population at large, just that they have better opportunities than most of us, we are also aware of more of their mistakes as they are subject to more scrutiny (nosey press) than most of the rest of us.
If you want to improve the political landscape and can prove you are a more moral and honest person through actions, then I suggest you join a political party and have a go.
I did and found the scene not to my liking for a whole range of reasons

yes, there are honest politicians. the problem with honesty is that it makes raising money so difficult. raising money buys advertisements, and that's what wins elections. So, then you need to be rich to start out with---or you need to not care what people think about you.
Some of the best people in public service have been among the least popular, because they had no talent for self-promotion. Herbert Hoover, Jimmy Carter, Anderson, Forbes, several others.
look at Ron Paul for the next election---(Presidential) Am not telling you how to vote---am asking you to look

I believe that the youth in America is starting to see how our system sucks~
I think they will demand higher standards~
I hope that we can soon overcome the glitz and glam game~
Our entire world is at risk,,,not just our country~
There needs to be someone strong enough to get in there, slap some people around and kick a**!
They are out there, we just have to pay more attention~
Look through the BS~
And demand change~
The poor and middle class need to step up~
We need to put a reasonable limit on campaign funding~
Everybody gets a limit~and they should not be allowed to go over that limit~
I think we would see some honest candidates then~
God bless the world and America~
We need all the help we can get~
We need to really start using our voices~
And scream loud~!~

Ron Paul. He is consistant with voting for the american people, standing up for the constitution, speaks out against the war with Iraq and doesn't pretend to be something he is not to get the vote.
He shows up for the debates and even though every single time the media tries to ignore him and limits his time, he gains applause and more supporters. He is a threat to the neo cons and he doesn't tip toe around important issues.
I've never in my life pushed for just one candidate because I like to leave my options open but he is by far the one that you can tell is honest. He's not being tossed aside for no reason and it's obvious who parrots everything they hear about in the news because mainstream media says things that aren't true about him or leave out information in order to snipe him.
Afterall, freedom has turned into a naughty word.
Even throughout his political career he has chosen to stick to his doctor profession and he has delivered 4,000 babies into this world. Even though he is experienced with being a doctor, none of the healthcare questions during the debate went to him. Notice though that all the moral questions went to Huckabee for his experience being the son of a preacher.

Politicians are for corruptions and corruptions are for politicians. This is the tonic for them to become healthy, wealthy and wise.

No, all politicians are in the job only for what they can get out of it both when they are allegedly working as representatives of the people and when they leave and get the pay offs for helping big business and the drug barons while they were in power.
