Nothing against our brothers in the great white North, but, honestly. Should they be replaced with a nation with a bit more pull. Suggestions welcome!

Canada has a booming economy, especially in the energy sector. Canada's dollar is almost at par with the U.S. greenback, and is one of the strongest currencies in the world. Technologically, socially, in terms of health-care, education and overall quality of life... there's few countries on the planet that compare favorably with Canada. Canada remains one of the most progressive societies on the globe, with a long list of diplomatic and peace-keeping accomplishments internationally.

Canada is respected, universally... as the following poll (for the BBC) illustrates.

"The poll asked 28,000 people in 27 countries to rate a dozen countries plus the EU in terms of whether they have a positive or negative influence."

Canada tops the list.

NO! But the States should. What do you guys do that makes you so much better than us? Canadians may not have lots of people or any army but who really cares? SO we are small in population and peace keepers.

And who says all countries need to stick their nose into other people's business. Honestly, Canada is the best place in the world!!!!!!!

Canada pays UN dues. Remember those? Our economy per capita dwarfs yours. We've actually managed to provide universal health care. (socialist crap? Does that mean we don't leave people dying in our streets?)

We're reknowned for peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance We conceived a world wide ban on landmines. Oh, who still hasn't signed?

Instead of walking around with your hollow words of brute crap, why not call your congressman and tell him to ratify climate change. Everyone else has.

Because, right now, the world opinion of your lumbering superbrute is the loud guy no one wants to ask to leave.

Funny I can wear a canadian flag on my backpack anywhere in the free world and receive pats on the back from people of all origins. Who's more likely to be spat upon?

Do a google search of countries the international world most admires. Why? We think by assisting others, we have a chance of living a peaceful existence.

Oh no! Bring drinking water to Africans and the TERRORISTS win!!!!!!

Look in the mirror before you pick up a magnifying glass.

(better not .... or the the TERRORISTS win!)

Canada has plenty of pull......we (US) have a huge (and growing) trade deficit with Canada!

. Try that for pull...your job depends on them! - http://www.ecanadanow.com/us/2007/02/13/us-trade-deficit-grew-to-612-billion-in-december/

Pull - Our military has maintained a "Joint Defense" since WWII. This is a little know fact it seems - Together we provide a Hemispheric Defense - Permanent Joint Board on Defense PJBD (US, Mexico and Canada)

FDR came up with the idea!

It is a forum for the major industrialised democracies, not a "we're more powerful than you" contest. Would it not be better to have as many members as possible, in order to have more influence? Australia should definately consider joining for instance.

Besides, Gerald Ford INVITED Canada to join.

Excellent answer, hydovitae. Well said. Thanks also to DB for showing this neo-clown how ignorant he is.
The nation that is becoming irrelevant is the one that ignores the UN, thinks it can take over other countries, but always fails. Any guesses on who that is?

Canada has become irrelevant, socialist policies have made them another insignificant European style country.

I do not know who would replace them however.

I would like to make it Taiwan just to watch the Chinese lose their minds.
