Ambitious is another way of saying that someone is seldom satisfied with what they have.

It can be a curse.

There is no set guidelines for what determines success; evaluation of success is subjective. How would you define "success"? Happiness, status, or wealth, etc.? Are you happy? Healthy? Can you sustain yourself, by your standards? If you answered yes to all three, then I would argue you are successful as an individual. Some people can be as ambitious as the next person; wealth, status, the works; but be deeply unhappy. Are *they* successful? I would argue that monetarily, sure... but what's the point in living life so mechanistically; defining yourself through what you have, not what you are? You only have this lifetime; don't waste it trying to figure out if you're acting within convention and norms. Define your own success.

Ambitious is a culturally specific state of existence. To be ambitious is to pursue success. Success though can be defined in terms of religion, race, culture and a variety of other factors.

Western culture has an emphasis on certain types of success.
