A lot depends on the rest of your starting rotation and your current bullpen. Without knowing what else you have and need I would say no to a deal like that unless you have 6 or 7 quality starters and a horrible bullpen. I bet you could do a straight up deal with either of the starting pitchers to get at least a mid level closer, you cut either one and you are going to make someone very happy and strengthen their team without much cost to them at all. You might as well get something for them. Keep in mind Martinez is killing the ball on a loaded Cleveland team (meaning the numbers are likely to continue) and to keep his bat in the lineup they use him at 1st or DH a lot to save the wear he would get catching day to day. Mauer doesnt have that luxury and also has spent a fair amount of time on the DL for someone so young (how many days of rest will he be given the rest of the year...quite a few I am betting). Seems like an expensive deal to me, i would look for pen help elsewhere if that is what you need.

I would do it. Martinez will be just about equal to Mauer once Mauer hits his stride again. The Twins offense, when they are all doing well is much more potent than the Indians' offense, so it is better to have mauer. Then you get a top-3 closer in Papelbon, so tihs is definitely worth it. If I had to drop someone, I would drop Burnett, because the D-Backs are doing much better than the Blue Jays, and Johnson is just as dominant this year as he has been before.

Absolutely a great trade!!

Mauer just got off of the DL and even though Pappelpon is not getting many save chances, he is still one of the best in the league.

Accept straight away and don't listen to the other two guys.

No. It is not that good. You need to think more and then get some idea from the other friends that Ur trade could get better.

If you're in last place or close to last, I'd go for it
But if you're doing well, try not to be too risky
