watch the film Crocodile. There have been rumours of them in New York sewers since the Thirties.
Einstein is right. It's Alligator not crocodile. The books called Croc.

It was a movie that came out in the late 70's I think. At least it was on network television in the early 80's it was horrifying for a 6 year old to watch have no idea why my parents let me watch it am still scared that crocodiles and for some reason goldfish are going to climb out of my toilet and eat me. I don't know if the movie is what you are referring to but I have found that talking about it helps me get over my fears.
