He started his career there and was very successful there. Is it about money? Does he have issues with the organization? Why wouldn't he want to end his Baseball career where he started it? What about a little nostalgia?

Clemens never made any secret that his issues with the Red Sox were solely with then-GM Dan Duquette. He's long gone -- commissioner of the new league in Israel, I think -- and even ownership has turned over, so there's no attachment remaining anyway.

The Red Sox don't need him, so going to Boston wouldn't have been the best fit for him.

Houston treats him like royalty. I think he's back there in 2008.

The Yankees thought they needed him -- REALLY needed him -- and so they opened the vault. (Yes, he's in this for the paydays, and I honestly don't understand why people have such a hard time grasping that.) He'll be an asset, but this year's Yankees are in a pretty big hole.

Well its obviously money. Some might call him selfish, but I think he is just like everyone else. I know that 99% of people would not turn down an extra few million dollars if they were offered it. He may have a lot of money already, but I'm sure he wants more so his kids and grandkids are well-off. Plus he hasnt been with the Bo-sox his whole life, so it doesnt really matter where he plays his next two or so years.

I would say Roger Clemens hasn't ever rejoined the Boston Red Sox because he knows that he will not be the best player on the team since they have Ortiz and Manny. Plus I think that he feels he has already left his legacy on the team the way it is

Two things about Clemens disappoint me. First, if you are going to play you should join the team in spring training and remain with them through the end of the season. Second, these guys have more cash than their grandkids' grandkids could possibly hope to spend, so why do they always have to go to the highest bidder instead of where they would like to be? The days of Andre Dawson signing a blank contract to play for the Cubs because he wanted to be there and was willing to take less money to do it are, sadly, a thing of the past.

Rodger is a great pitcher but Rodger is all about Rodger...He is also dumber than wood...Case in point he went to the Yankees because he THOUGHT they had a better chance to win a championship...The person Rodger holds a grudge against is Dan Douquette who is long gone from the Red Sox so scratch that theory...He just went to a team where he would get the most attention...I don't believe he needs the money that bad he just wants to be the center of attention and where else but NY,NY...

Because he feels like the organization let him down after the great years that he had there. After leaving I think that he played with a chip on his shoulder and that motivated him to play at a higher level. He has played like he wanted to show them that he still has plenty left in the tank. And after seeing how he can still dominate a batter he leaves no one doubting his throwing ability now. Plus it probably gives him a good feeling knowing that the Red Sox are always in the short list of names that want him.

I think it comes down to the money. From what I've heard, he was literally a day away from rejoining the Sox and then the Yanks came through with some mega offer that he chose not to refuse.

Because with the Red Sox he would NEVER get away with the crap he did with the Astros and now does with the Yankees. He is a self-centered idiot who cares only for himself. The Red So are a TEAM, something Clemens just doesn't understand as he continues to seek and get special favors from the likes of the lowly Yankees.

Chow!!

Where would he fit in the rotation?? Beckett, Dice-K, Shill, Wake and a strong bully.....why would they actually want him? Its no surprise Theo Epstien actually entertained for about....3 seconds and the Sox didn't even offer a number to Clemens. Money for one, no spot for another starter.

the gm said he was wash up. so he sign with the blue jays. Th gm didn't leave the red sox until 2001. so Roger has had a animosity towards the red sox ever since. he has soften since the gm was fired and they have a new ownership with the red sox.
