i have read and watched the whole deal... the problem with the film is that it didn't capture the tension and excitement of the novel. sure, it had everything faithfully rteproduced, well, almost, BUT, it just did not show the intelligence of the novel. i suggest you read the book too, to get better picture of what i'm talking about. it is stil worth it, even if you already watched the film.

The book is so much better than the movie. In fact after all the hoo ha over the movie, it was a great disappointment to me. The book is by far so much better. If you are planning to get the book do try and get the illustration copy. I find the book so interesting that i even bought 'Breaking the Da Vinci Code'. Its like an answers to questions raised by the book. Very interesing and thought provoking especially if you are a christian.

I read the book first, but watched the film with someone who had not read it...they found it really hard to follow.
i preferred the book, because they left out what i thought were pretty key points in the film, and also, i'm not sure how well you'd understand it if you hadn't read the book.
then again, i generally find film re-makes of books are poorer...it was a pretty good attempt. But the film just lacks some of the pace and excitement of the book, and also, naturally, theres is less opportunity for explaining things in detail, so lots of bits are ommited.
i'd say the film is worth a watch, but make sure you've read the book first, you'll get most out of it that way.

If you are a reader, and generally like book versions better than movies, I would recommend that you read the book first. I think that the book is MUCH better, but I do have several friends that are not readers that could not get into the book, but that loved the movie. They both, however, are very good. I vote book.

Like pretty much every movie I have seen based on a book, the book is always better. The movie was entertaining, but I enjoyed reading the book more.

The movie was okay, but could not get the depth of the research in the book and that ,in my opinion, was what made the book so great. The movie was only part of the book and,yes, I read the book and saw the movie.

The book is much, much, MUCH better than the movie [100%]
{Though books are usually better anyway.}
The movie changed a lot of things which I did not like at all. But thats not to say the movie was terrible, its just compared to the book, I didn't enjoy it as much.

I read 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail' long before Da Vinci Code was written so the story line was of no surprise to me really.
I enjoyed the Book a lot more than the movie, but the movie is good enough I suppose.

yes. i read the book first then saw the movie. i think the book is much better than the movie. i was unimpressed with the movie. doesnt do the book justice. books are usually better than their movies because the books can go into far great detail and have backplots and such. if you saw the movie and are interested in the plot and ideas then you should read the book.
