I am a single dad with custody of the kids. I and my ex wife's family get along very well. It is my ex they do not get along with. They are always calling me to ask me if there is anything we need. They are also calling me to come and help them or fix anything that might break.
No, there is no problems with you getting along with her family.

You never know it could turn out like "Sweet Home Alabama", a movie where the girl and the mom were very friendly, but the exes couldn't get along. The girl was gonna marry another man and the mom-in-law was there, so you can't get much closer than that! But in the end, the exes realized that they really loved each other, too. You never know the relationship with your ex mom-in-law may help with the relationship with your ex.

You have known her for a long time it is alright to talk some. Just be considerate to the ex. and stay away when she is around.

I wish i could knock on my ex mother and laws door,she lives ten miniutes away.But shes so much like my exwife i think she would slam the door in my face.And my wife left me another guy.Hoe does your ex feel about you talking to her mother ?

Talking to your ex's mother is not wrong and it is not rude but seems there is more to it. If you must talk, talk once in a while only.
