the United Nations is often said to be a whire elephant....
is it true?
afterall there has been very serious charges against them in the past years....

People complain about the United Nations, but nobody is offering up a similar organization to take its place, and the alternative is a step back to universal isolationism and/or a shift to national strategic alliances.

Rwanda. bungled peacekeeping mission in Somalia. Black Hawk Down thing warlord grab failed u.s. pulls out. yes not very effective would be if all spent more.were U.S. to spend entirely on peacekeeping missions instead different story along with China. maybe could do something if looked at environmental impact of warfare and war readiness on planet tackle that might regain strength.

Not at all. I cannot think of another organization where the leaders of all of the world's governments can come together to discuss their difference and to seek a peaceful resolution without having to resort to war. Do you know of any alternatives that could substitute for the UN today?
