You got to love all these responces. Frankly there are good reasons to believe both:
Creation - if you are ignorant enough to believe everything the bible says then chose this
Evolution - if you want to read more than one book (i.e. the bible) then believe this.

I don't really know a lot about the creation side of it but know of a few things that are strong indicators of evolution.

You have things like the human eye which is not perfect. We do in fact have a defect in the way our eyes are "made up" - the blind spot (on the retina the optical nerve causes this blind spot). If we were created then why would this be so as if the eye were created with the optical nerve behind the retina we would have no blind spot. Same with the vas deferens in men (the tubes that carry the semen) - these are awkwardly positioned and wrap over the urethra which again would not have occured if we were perfectly created.

If you look at whales, towards the back of their bodies they have two appendages which they do not use. These appendages are made up similar to the human hand from the skeletal point of view. Why would the whale have these if they are not needed? Why would a creationist put them there for no use at all? Evolution gives a strong answer as to why they are there - they were of use at some point - perhaps the whale began as a land mammal?

The type of question you have set will ultimately give an opinion in the form of an answer. Evolution is based on science whereas as creation is based on religion.

I think you know the difference in the meanings of both but to be more clear, evolution states that living beings adapt and change slowly to their liking and for survival over many years. Creation can be linked to evolution, with religion it states that God created all that exists. Creation from a scientific point states the first living organisms started from random sequences of chemicals which formed simple DNA billions of years ago which slowly mutated to give larger and more complex organisms to what exists now, like you and me and the other beautiful things in the world.

I hope this question represents little bias and gives and answer rather than an opinion. Feel free to email me if for any reason you are confused.

From a scientific standpoint think about this;

1. If God created all creatures on the planet during the creation, then why is there no fossilized evidence of many species we see today, like the german shepard, or gorilla or even a giraffe.

The answer is....there is evidence, if you believe in divergent evolution........there isn't if you believe in creationism!!

I don't understand why the creationists can't grasp that and incorporate evolution into their beliefs. Perhaps God created man and all the other creatures on the planet, but created them and then left them alone to thrive and evolve into....whatever!!

Thats' not what I believe but I can tell you that I'd believe THAT before I believe he created everything all at once in one week! This would have been a pretty crowded planet!

People need to stop taking the content of the Bible so "Literal" because it's been interepreted thousands of times over by people (i.e. man). Give me the unabridged version written by God himself or give me a Bible with extensive annotation, works cited, and reputable sources, then maybe I'll listen to that particular interpretation and not use my own brain to distill what I believe is relevant reliable content.

Example: On the 6th day God created man and on the 7th day he rested (see God's archive of things created post Big Bang, October 23, 4004 BC; Page 23,456-45,698) Location: Heaven (click Google Earth for directions) Hours of operation: 7am until 9pm M-F.

Did you ever wonder why lions and a pet cat look very similar to each other? Or why the Dodo bird was flightless, seemingly just waiting for man to come to their island and hunt them to extinction?
It is ignorance to accept that these things were just put there.
Evolution is the only theory which explains the differences and similarities between all species of life on Earth. It is one of the most robust, yet elegant, theories to be put forward.
It is supported by many branches of science, in fact, I cannot think of a branch of science which can be used to reject it. The main objections to it are faith based and are not scientific. People seem to be insulted that they can be related to other forms of life. Why? Because then it would challenge their beliefs that they were created in God's image, rather than having an ape-like ancestor as a template for humankind. It is this arrogance which keeps some people from accepting evidence.

Science may not be able to explain every step of every stage of every animal, and this is seen by creationists as proof that evolution is incorrect. Darwin, in his landmark publication "The Origin of Species", never claimed to have all the answers, neither do scientists today make that claim, but the theory of evolution is too compelling and logical to be simply dismissed just because it carries the tag of "Theory". There are many current examples of the theory at work, including bacterial resistance to medication, locust resistance to pesticides etc.

As I have said, Evolution explains the similarities and differences between all the living things on Earth. Creationists just ask you to accept that it is so, and be content.

Of all the different creatures alive on the Earth, there are basically only 7 ( i am trying to recall the exact number from my OU Degree - but it's defo a single figure) different body styles.
To me, this shows that the diversity we have today has a common origin, at a time when many different body styles evolved, but only 7 (or so) were successful enough to survive. Those seven have spawned the vast number of different creatures we see today = evolution over creation!

You better believe in creation, or do you want to be related or be originating from a monkey? It's up to you...

Why creation? Creation serves a purpose, God will not just create something here on earth without the thought of having any use to it, even evolutionists would agree about the cycle of life, the food chain, that everything has a purpose, but their contention, is that evolution adapts, they don't just adapt they are here intelligently and with a purpose. Which came first the egg or the chicken?

Which you choose to believe in depends on whether you prefer to base your opinion on the matter upon facts and evidence or on comfort and tradition. Those who deny evolution do so because they start with the assumption that not only is the Bible inerrant, but that it is literally true. Their calculation of the age of the Earth, for example, is made by adding up the "begats" in Genesis, not because they have any physical evidence for a young Earth. In contrast, there are mountains of physical evidence for an old Earth, and the fact that evolution occurs (including "macro" and human evolution) is well-established by fossil evidence, molecular biology, and instances of observed speciation both in the lab and in the wild. There is plenty of evidence available for those willing to seek it out; I'll include some useful links in the "sources" section below.

Well, you should believe in something, otherwise you may fall prey to religious zealots.
What, me?, biased? no, why do you ask :-)

A couple things to consider:

If we weren't here, we wouldn't be here to wonder about how improbable it is that we are here.

Creation is only half an explanation, If there is a creator where did she come from? If you can find an answerer to that, does that answer really make more sense than evolution?

Evolution is not a belief system. It is based on evidence.
Creation is a belief system for which there is no evidence whatsoever - it is not to be questioned - it is the opposite of science.

There is not an either or, these two things aren't even in the same ballpark. If you have to ask - you need to do some studying!

At the end of the day, what a person accepts, usually what they feel comfortable with, is their view. The museums of the world are full of evidence for evolution (i.e.:Harvard Museum of Natural History), and the semenaries of the world for creation. I believe that the views that a person is taught in their youth are those that they finally accept, and evidence often has slight influence.
