While I was in labor? I would have to say the epidural. It made my labor much more enjoyable. I was able to function as a "human" and not scream like a raging crazy person. Now for recovery...My own night gowns were helpful. They just made me more comfortable.

My husband was the only thing I cared about having with me during my labour. And I hate staying in hospital so I discharge myself as soon as it is safe to take my babies home...usually about 5 hours after the birth but I always take my own maternity pads as the hospital ones are horrible. I have to tell you...hot showers and baths make labour so much more bearable!! I don't like taking pain meds unless there is a problem so showers and baths were a real life saver! Good luck with your birth!!

I planned my first delivery so well that all my bags were ready the previous month i went into labor. Infact i started collecting things for the baby right when i was in my 4th month. I was thankful to God that my hubby didnt have to run around to get the things that the baby needed. Since everything was made ready by me... i was very satisfied to see the things happening according to my wish and plan. i even made a wollen blanket for my baby, when i was having that huge bump. hehe it was so cute to see the baby wraped with the blanket that i had made exclusively to wrap that bundle of joy :-)
And since i got the baby after 6yrs of long treatment.... i had tears of joy and was thanking God every minute of labor :-)
I am 6weeks pregnant now i want to gift this second baby of mine to my son who is very much eager and thrilled.
All the very best to you and wishing you happiness always :-)

My fiancé. He was actually a patient in another ward at the time, and most of the day he was waiting for an appointment at another hospital, but when he got to me five hours after I had been there he was great-even though he had a raging migraine!

They provide almost everything at the hospital, that this is hard to answer. I was grateful for my robe and gown and definately slippers. If you need anything else, they give it to you. And I wish I didn't pack so much because that was just more that I had to unpack when I got home.

Have a good source of people, people who will support you...your partner and best friend (thats who i had) - they saw it all and helped me through the whole thing. Epidural is great, but before i had it the two people i love most was in with me helping me. Even a washer aswell...it can get a bit hot ! make sure you have supportive people. Good luck...remember to breathe - it helps trully !!!!

It was SO boring being on bedrest and then in hospital for another 2 weeks after the birth. My text books gave me something to do.
