- Wind Energy output is not constant . It varies during different times of the day and is seasonal.
- Cant be controlled
- Initial Capital Cost is very high
- Wind Energy farms can be put up only in areas with some minimum wind speed

Although wind energy is clean and renewable, it has certain drawbacks. It depends on steady, strong winds blowing most of the time, which are found only in a few places. Wind farms take up a great deal of land, and the turning blades can be noisy. There is also a limit to how much power each windmill can produce. However, in the future, wind farms may become more productive and more widely used.

At this point in time, the technology is there and getting better. It is though dependent on the undependable wind so one needs to consider location as a limitation. Then another limitation is that few people want to hear it (even though it is reasonably quiet) or see it (no one wants their view spoiled, especially with the cost of that sea side villa). Many people site problems with hurting wildlife as a limitation, but I suspect more animals perish under the tires of fuel trucks on deliveries or the props of LNG and oil tankers. Another limitation is that we have a huge investment in resources now, not only at the level of the "country" you live in but also in your home. Here we rely on 120 volt AC, and in Europe there is mainly 220 volt AC. Wind energy needs conversion to step it up and change from DC to AC in a lot of cases. Back when the first electricity scientists fought over AC and DC and which should prevail, had they known of and considered our problems in the world of energy today, maybe things would have turned out different. Maybe we would be on DC. How easy it is to convert ones electric lighting to wind fed DC low voltage with a huge savings.

It is really limited. To supply our huge need for energy, the entire lanscape would have to be cluttered with windmills. They want to build a "wind farm" here in MI, but all the locals fight it. NOT IN MY BACKYARD. Also the cost for wind generated electric is 4 or 5 times the cost that we pay now.

nothing much ! theyre dependent on wind so thats one limitation and they make environment look ugly which is much better than harming it ;)
