Yes, and it was a very positive experience, I basked in the feeling and enjoyed every minute of it. I have also felt swamped in a very depressed manner and I know that because it will pass on it's way, I can deal with it. I am in fact experiencing a great deal of depression at this time, this is what I am doing to cope, Y/A. My answers may not be the best but it's working for me.

I think it's a rare person who doesn't feel swamped at least occasionally, if not constantly. And I agree that you should write about your emotions and talk about them to friends or close family. I do NOT agree that you should ignore the emotions and they might go away. There is a reason you're feeling this way; figure out what it is, and do something about it. An important thing that you didn't specify is what KIND of emotions are you talking about? If they are good ones, hey, just enjoy! Or even if you're just sad, that is a part of life, and therefore there is something to be gained by feeling it. But if you are bombarded by emotions that actually scare you, or make you feel out of control, you might need to look for real help. (By which I mean a doctor or therapist.)

Try and write in a diary. You really organize your thoughts, and get to know yourself a lot better. Hang out with friends, do yoga, write a poem, make a collage...etc. Distract yourself so you can let your mind concentrate on other things, and so it doesn't drown in all of your emotion.

the best way is to discuss the problems with your family and/or good friends.

while discussing, drink some fresh milk and don't wear any shoes.

if on mind medication, quickly take the medication if the emotions still haven't subside.

I'm happy to say that I've never felt anything that overwhelmed me emotionally. If ever, it was something good rather than bad, like the 1st time I made eye contact with my new born son (minutes after birth).
