All silver coins, even the silver bullion coins are composed of two or more metals, with the main metal being silver and the smaller portion being copper(except for billon coins where copper is dominant). That's why we'll never find a 100% pure silver coin. Even the purest Canadian Maple silver bullion coin has only a 99.99% purity. And since you mentioned that it's for chemistry homework, I'm gonna add a few related points on the subject. Copper is added to silver for coins to enhance the alloy's properties, such as its tensile strength, shear strength and stiffness(read up on Thomas Young's modulus of elasticity). The different sizes of the copper and silver atoms in the alloy forces the larger atoms to exert a compressive force on other atoms to form a stronger metal.
