You need to listen to Coast to Coast AM with George Nooray. He will fill you in on all of these questions. I doubt the world is going to end in 2012 because according to the Bible the earth still has to go through the tribulation and the 1000 year reign of Christ.

The Mayan calendar signifies the end of the Mayan calendar, nothing said about the end of the world. That has been theorised and played on by scientists who were involved in its discovery wondering why the calendar suddenly ended there.
It will be nothing more than the calendar flipping over to a new Mayan year, much the same as we flip our own calendars on January 1.

Well, if Nostrodamus predicted the end, then it must be true, must it not?
Nostrodamus has predicted the end of the world no less than 100 times in years already gone by, and, unless I'm mistaken, the Earth is still here, and the Human species is going as strong as ever.

You will find it interesting to know that in the year 2,000, the Earth was predicted to turn on its axis, where twunamis, earthquakes and solar flares would kill almost all life on the planet. Again, I don't see any evidence of that today.

Like someone else has already said, the nearest we will come to death is the asteroid in 2029 (there abouts) where it will pass so near to us, that there is a high probability of it hitting. Even when it does pass near us, we have a good 7 - 9 years to change its orbit or destroy it.

And again, like someone said, we are overdue for the Yellowstone volcano to errupt; said to be the largest volcanic explosion on the planet with enough explosion to wipe out the americas and bring on a new ice age across the planet.

As a personal note - I find it ironic that the americans are portraying themselves as world heroes of apocalyptic events in movies, yet they have the volcano which can destroy all life on the planet.

Don't even think about putting God and prayer and the antichrist and the second coming into this kind of thing.

The mayan calendar just happens to end in a day that coincides with the 21st of Dec. of 2012. Nothing more!
You go search the origins of the end of the world in 2012 belief and it's always New Age crap!

Most of them , actually, believe that the consciousness of humans is going to change and be more peaceful an din contact witht eh universe and whatnot. Not end of the wrold apocalypse crap!

Just because an ancient calendar ends it doens't mean the world is going to end! Get a grip on reality, people!

I can predict the end of the wrold, sure, will I get it right? Not likely.
Nostradamus predicted the end of the wrold was in 1999. Got it right? no.

But the mayans could be right, coudln't they?????
What's more likely, that people like to think that they know something that others don't and that New Age idiots think too much based on fantasies....or that the mayan civilization was visited by ultradimensional beings that talked to them through dreams and hallucinations to tell them about the end fo the world?

The asteroid thing has been having its probability of hitting decreased like, every month. NAsa gets more data from its movement in space, and it seems that, yes it will pass near earth, but it won't impact on New York city or anything.
the odds of that happening are very small according to NASA. Get updated, send e-mails to NASA, don't read old news from New Age websites!

And this is form 2004!!!! Look at the dates people!!! Don't just read the "news"!

Hmm... not sure, whether in 2012 the sun is to flip, the earth is to enter the center of the milky way, the closest comet is to come close the the earth ...
But I know for sure, that in 2012 the world is going to end for hundreds of people. But at the same time (i believe) it will begin for thousands of people!
Hope for the better!!

I have NO idea of where you got that from. Basically the earth is going to flip when the sun like any other star, dies, and starts to grow larger, eventually swallowing up Earth. Where did you get the idea that the Earth is going to enter the center of the milky way? There is a comet going to crash into earth? Scary. But no. I don't think it'll be 2012. I hope its not. I certainly don't wanna be alive when that happens.

Here is a link for 44 end of the world predictions.

The main thing they have in common is - it never happened. Of course if a comet does hit the earth that will make us extinct. But 99% of all life species that has been on this planet went extinct already. Given enough time it will happen to us.

I believe there will actually be 2 catastrophic events back to back. The polar caps were actually getting bigger, and caused the Earth to tilt. This I feel created disturbances within, due to the Earths rotation. The earthquakes and volcanic eruptions releasing tons of ash and hot gases into the atmosphere. Rapidly melting the polar caps, which will result in the Earth slipping suddenly and dramatically back to it's natural spin. And there will be a "chain reaction" on mutlidimensional levels that will open the doors to others realities. Many feel this will occur in 2012, (5th Seal Revelation). Not long after, a body from space will hit the Earth. I believe these things to be True.

The Mayan didn't predict it. They simply said that the world would end as we know it. That's a big difference between the world ending and there being changes.

well see in 2012, if not then 2029, when a asteroid is supposed to get close, but if it misses we got 7 more years until it does hit us. not to mention we are over due for a eruption from Yellowstone that will cover the earth in ash
