I think the coolest final fantasy character would be Tidus. Because his blitzball jetshot is awesome. Regardless of his outfit, he sounded original and frank. As serious as a hero, he is also a serious bltizball player. Well balanced.

No, seriously.
Yuna is annoying at first, like many female characters in FF, but she gets amazing in the later half of FF X and she rocks in FF X-2.
Because of her character the final battle in FF X was the best final battle in any game I played - you always know you are going to win, so I never found final battles particularly engaging, but in FF X fighting feels bitter (I am not going to spoil the ending for you though, but I'm sure the ones who played the game know what I am talking about.)
I picked the coolest character without thinking about who is the most efficient in battle as that would be hard to say, the gameplay being different in every game. Yuna was not my best damage dealer in FF X (neither was Tidus). And so many of the FF main characters are either emo or jerks or both, and they are often so stereotypical it's not even funny...
Hey, I am a FF fan, but not for the main characters. (Sephiroth and Seifer are not main characters, btw, so there. Neither are Cid, Yuffie or Paine.)

The "coolest" Final Fantasy character IMO is Balthier. He's always so suave and charming, he is the leading man, you know? My favorite FF character is Yuna, but Balthier is the coolest.

I agree with it being Squall. Come on, Lionheart. I was able to defeat Ultimate Weapon in just 2 rounds! When your limit is 9999 for every hit and you slash like 20 times, you do some hard core damage. Puts any other Final Fantasy attack to shame.

To me I would have to say Yuna due to her first being an innocent summoner then turning to an awsome fighter just my opinion.

I don't know, but I certainly dislike Cloud. He's a depressed little baby. He acts like he should be sitting in a corner cutting himself and rocking back and forth.

I think its Tidus from FFX he is sweet and cute and has awesome moves with his big sword and i think him and Yuna are a great couple
