What's the proper ratio of ice to soda in a fountain drink? I like the ice with the holes in the middle.

Where I work at you are suppose to fill the cup almost half full of ice before you put the soda in, well unless someone asks for no ice, then they don't get any.

Nothing used to taste better than the somewhat old fashioned automated cup dispenser cola machines with the finely crushed ice and heavy on the syrup. Properly tuned up those machines could make an awesome Coca-Cola. I'd say as little ice as possible in your fountain drink. Most fountains offer nicely chilled beverages with filtered water eliminating the need for much ice to deaden any water based after taste.

Sauce,
That is a good question for sure !!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure of the proper amount , but when I do it myself , I dont use that much ice . These people that do it give you all ice half the time , and hardly soda , but yet you pay for the soda . More they get out of those machines , more profit , huh ????????????????

Well, I ask for no or little ice because they basically fill a glass with ice and add a bit of soda.

Actually, the Ice Machine is preset, so you don't need to know. The manager can tell you all about the mix. Also, some customers will ask for extra ice, or no ice at all.

I always ask for NO ice unless it is a stinking hot day.

With the cup full of ice and dribble of soda, you'd think those fast food workers were paying for your soda out of their own pockets......they are so measly with it!

It all depends on personal likes and dislikes. But personally I prefer less ice and more soda.
